Why does Blaidd want to fight you?
Why The Tarnished Fights Blaidd At Ranni's Rise. Players who traveled back to Ranni's Rise after completing the Lunar Princess' questline may have been surprised by the appearance of Blaidd right outside. He murmurs about how he could never betray her – Ranni – and attacks the player immediately if they get too close.
If you speak with Iji the blacksmith, you'll learn that he imprisoned Blaidd for his own safety after becoming insane from grief over Ranni's disappearance.
Head back to Ranni's Rise after completing Ranni's questline (or just outside it) to see Blaidd again - only this time, he's aggressive and out to kill you. There's no way to pacify him -fight him, put him out of his misery and end his questline for good.
You can either choose to let him out or keep him in the evergaol; he will escape on his own if you don't let him out, so the choice is ultimately meaningless. After this, you'll need to finish Ranni's questline before you can finish Blaidd's.
Blaidd will drop his armor, gauntlets, greaves, and his Royal Greatsword. Unfortunately, there is no wolf head piece named after Blaidd, but there is a good substitute located nearby.

You can summon Blaidd with his Elden Ring Spirit Ash (opens in new tab) to help you with this fight—his yellow summon sign is on the ground, close to the glowing circle where you arrived. You don't have to summon him if you don't want: just defeating Darriwil will complete this step of the quest.
Blaidd can be found initially at Mistwood Ruins, but must be found as part of his quest. Can become hostile if the player kills ANY of the large rune bears before meeting him.
After giving Ranni the Darkmoon Ring, Blaidd will appear as a hostile NPC outside Ranni's Rise. Defeat him to receive his armour and weapon.
Rather than heading to Nokron, Blaidd is imprisoned by War Counselor Iji in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol. This happens immediately once you leave Radahn's battleground; if you want to hear what Blaidd has to say, you have to speak to him right after the fight, or you'll lose your only chance.
