How do I turn off too far from host in ARK?
There is nothing you can do about it on a non-dedicated server. Your only option would be to convert it to a dedicated server.
The version through steam and epic you can adjust this setting in the settings of the game but since the game pass version only associates itself with the version on Xbox (which doesn't support it) it can't adjust it either along with the fact you can't crossplay between Microsoft and Steam/Epic even if both are on pc.
the number sets max tether distance in increments of 200m We just did a game with it set to 100.0 (which should be max of 20,000 m) and I can be on opposite corner of island than host (over 8200m away) still no issues. Its all still relevent no matter how old the thread is now... Thanks for the input!
You can change the distance in non dedicated settings screen. The slider goes to 3x but you can type a number in the box next to it to override.
The real answer is to switch over to a dedicated server. That is the only way to completely eliminate the tether range. If it is only going to be you and a few friends, you should be able to run the dedicated server on the same PC that you play on..
You can't change the tether. It's a limitation of consoles that they don't have the power to load the entire map. The person hosting dictates the tether distance so if a person on a ps5/series x hosts, the distance will be bigger than if a ps4/xbox one hosts.
- Host a dedicated server yourself on another xbox or PC( you will need the game on another account for this). ...
- Rent a server from a place like gportal or nitrado. ...
- Join a private server that has settings you like.
Due to the fact that you'll be able to host a server and play at the same time, there is a limit on how far survivors can travel from one another. Currently this is set to approx 250M, as well as a limit on the amount of players that can be online at once, which is the host + 7.
With the command "r. ViewDistanceScale <value>" you can adjust the drawing distance for things like rocks, grasses, and trees. The minimum value is current 0.1. Playing around with this setting can help you in terms of performance.
Navigate to Settings > Wireless & networks >Tethering & portable hotspot > Portable Wi-Fi hotspot. Choose Configure Wi-Fi hotspot to set a name, security setting, and password for your hotspot, then tap Save. Swipe down from the top of the screen to view notifications.
Can I disable tethering?
Yes. There is an option in settings, normally under the connections group to enable/disable the phone's WiFi hotspot. You can also configure the hotspot's network name (SSID) and pass phrase in the same part of the settings.
If your plans has data limitations, any Personal Hotspot usage time will come out of your monthly allowance. If you're on an Unlimited data deal, you can tether your phone as much as you want with no extra cost.
There is only 1 way and that is to host/run a dedicated server. Download ARK server manager and run a dedicated server.
